Commissioned by the Amarillo Symphony and Nu Deco Ensemble for mezzo soprano J'Nai Bridges
Sacred Earth is a song cycle for voice and orchestra, composed for J'Nai Bridges, about the sanctity of the world and our relationship to nature. The work is in five movements; texts include William Blake's "The Lamb", Joseph Edwards Carpenter's "The Whale", Emily Dickinson's "Hope is the thing with feathers" as well as the Latin Dona nobis pacem. These odes to the natural world are complemented by visuals from Emmy-nominated director and National Geographic photographer Keith Ladzinski, who created special new video for the work.
